On Wednesday, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar began paying the relief to the affected families directly in bank accounts with the government building ‘Sankalp’ on 1 Anne Marg. Under this process, relief is given to a total of 6 Lakh 51 thousand 602 families from 12 districts. Help was sent to each family at a rate of Rs 7,000, reaching the total amount of Rs 456 Crore 12 Lakh. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said at the event that the government has always been committed to immediate relief and support from affected families. He said that this amount was sent directly to the bank accounts by the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system, so that the relief amounts reached the families in a quick and transparent way. The recent flooding in Bihar has caused major losses in many state districts. Farmers, poor families and daily wages had to experience the most difficult for it. The chief minister said the government is facing everything for the economic and social rehabilitation of the affected families. According to administrative officials, the possibility of any form of rarity or corruption has become minimal due to the payment of the relief amount by digital medium. Bank and local administration of all districts involved worked on this task. The chief minister also said that the goal is to achieve the relief only to the affected disaster so that they can buy requirements and lifelong items. He called on the people involved to use the amount in a smart and planned way. Department of Finance Officials were also present at the event. He said it was a record payment of a great relief, which reached the accountants’ account directly through digital banking. Officials said this process ensures that no family is delayed in receiving the relief. Local population and affected families appreciated the initiative of the Chief Minister and described it as proof of the readiness and transparency of the government machinery. He said that such a digital payment system protects from corruption and paperwork and helps directly with those who are most needed. The successful organization of this event also gave a message that the Bihar government is technically competent and liable in cases of disaster management and assistance distribution.
