Shanghai Masters: Djokovic beat Bergs to fetch semi -finals
Shanghai, October 9 (IANS). Novak Djokovic defeated 6-3, 6-4 on Thursday Zizo Bergs of Belgium to reach the semi-finals of Shanghai Masters 2025. The 38-year-old Serbian player continued his dominance and became the oldest player who was the semi-finals of the ATP-Mastures 1000. Despite this, he made it to the semi -finals. The Serbian player broke Berg’s serving in the second set to take a 5-4 lead and take him to victory, but the 26-year-old Belgian, who played his first ATP match against Djokovic, returned immediately by breaking his service. Djokovic kept four punishments and a daring flight from Bergs to clinch the break in an exciting rally. After victory, Djokovic said: “To be honest, I was just trying to stay on the track. It was my first game with Bergs. She is a wonderful player. She had a tremendous force in her game. A few times I tried to play an extra ball in the track and missed her the ball, and it had to end the game.” Djokovic accepted the challenge of adapting to the conditions in Shanghai. “The conditions are very challenging for all players these days and I was just trying to stay on the track. I’m glad to overcome this obstacle,” he said. The 24-time Grand Slam champion is now just two wins of a record 41st Masters 1000 title. It will be his first title after the 2023 Paris Masters. –Is Bag Share This Story Tags
