At least two people are in serious condition following a police involved shooting Wednesday in North Codorus Township, about 115 miles west of Philadelphia, near the Maryland border. Wellspan York Hospital confirmed that it would treat two individuals linked to the incident. ‘Both are in serious condition. Improved safety protocols are in place in the hospital, “a spokesman said. Officials respond Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro has announced that he is on his way to the scene. “I was informed about the situation involving law enforcement in York County, and is now on his way there,” Shapiro on X. State Attorney Dave Sunday also confirmed that he was heading to the website. Lieutenant -Governor Austin Davis urged the public to send “prayers to the officers and those involved in the shooting in York County” and advised people to follow the police lead and avoid the area. Rep. Lloyd Smucker, whose district includes the scene, said he is monitoring the situation carefully. The precautions of the Spring Grove School District issued an order on the shelter as a precaution, although the shooting did not involve schools. The district said students and staff are kept in place, while several roads remain in the area, causing delays in bus transport. Students who have already left for mid and high schools are returned to their original schools until the authorities have cleared the area. The shooting took place on a rural road winding through farm fields and an agricultural area known for apple orchards, where many migrant farm workers, including Mexican citizens, work. The Mexican Consulate in Philadelphia said it monitored the situation and advised residents in the area to follow official instructions. The timeline of the incident around 2:10 p.m., 911 distributors received calls about the police incident. The authorities are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
