'Snake killer' Elderly say motorbikes no longer dare to cross pavements

Jakarta – Resident of Kramat Jati, East Jakarta, Subari (75), who went viral for deliberately spreading a snake on the pavement, said motorbikes no longer dare to pass on the pavement. He carried out this action because he was annoyed by motorbikes that often drove over the pavement to avoid traffic jams. “(Motorcycles) didn’t pass, nobody dared, they all went down. There were also those who ran, there was this one who came straight down. Since he was causing trouble for pedestrians, I let him out,” Subari told 20detik on Friday (17/10/2025). Because because of motorcycles it becomes difficult for pedestrians. “It’s difficult for pedestrians when motorbikes drive over. So I took the initiative, I took my hose out on the pavement,” said Subari. He admitted that he had kept the snake for 13 years. He found the python type snake on the side of the toll road. “Initially I got it off the side of the toll road and looked after it until it was 13 years old. It was tame, to be kept, someone wanted it but didn’t give it to them, it was a pet,” he said. (zap/maa)
