Candidates for the Supreme Court Judge Suradi call the death penalty needed to shock therapy

Jakarta – Candidates for the Supreme Court (MA) Suradi underwent a feasibility and proper test in the Indonesian parliament. At the event, Suradi said the death penalty was still needed. This special form of criminal is indeed necessary to provide “shock” for extraordinary crime rates. “Why is a special criminal, like that, it is a criminal who is permissible to sometimes make shock therapy, if the crime rate is extraordinary,” he said. “If the ICCPR (International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights) can lower the death sentence, but it is for the most serious crime case, such a real serious crime that can only be abandoned by death,” he said. Furthermore, he judged that special crimes such as the death penalty are still needed. In the penal code itself, there is also a ten -year trial period for people who are sentenced to death. “It is in my opinion that this special criminal is indeed a midfield to expect certain issues to still be dropped,” he said.
