Former Indian captain and former BCCI president Sourav Ganguly prepares him to play an active role in the cricket administration again. After resigning from the post of President of the Council of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) about three years ago, Ganguly can now submit nominations for the position of President of the Bengal Cricket Association (CAB). Currently, 52 -year -old Ganguly was the president of CAB from 2015 to 2019 and is considered an experienced and influential leader in the field of cricket administration. He decided to submit nomination for the post of CAB president.” According to BCCI Constitution, a person can hold the post in a state cricket association for a maximum of nine years. Since Ganguly has only taken four years so far, his tenure has been left for five years. In such a situation, there is no legal or constitutional restriction on his return. It is not yet clear whether he will unanimously be president or hold elections, but given his popularity and experience in the cricket world, it is believed that his allegation is much less likely to question. Snehashish Ganguly will take a break, the current President Snehashish Ganguly, who is the older brother of Sourav Ganguly, is his six -year term this year. According to the recommendations of the Lodha Committee, any official of any state organization will have to take a break after a six -year term. In such a situation, Snehashish Ganguly will have to resign from President’s post and this could be the right time for leadership change in CAB. The return of Sourav Ganguly can give new energy to Bengal cricket, as well as utilizing his experience at national level. It will be interesting to see if they have an undisputed election or an election competition.
