South Africa won the Rawalpindi Test by 8 wickets, tied the series against Pakistan 1-1
Rawalpindi, October 23 (IANS). South Africa won the second test match against Pakistan at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium by 8 wickets. With this, the visiting team ended the series of two matches at 1-1. In the first match of the series played at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Pakistan won by 93 runs. In such a situation, the second game of the series became decisive. To level the series, South Africa had to win this match at all costs. After winning the toss in Rawalpindi, the Pakistani team came into bat and scored 333 runs in the first innings. Captain Shan Masood scored 87 runs, while Saud Shakeel scored 66 runs. Apart from this, Abdullah Shafiq scored 57 runs. Keshav Maharaj took maximum 7 wickets from the visiting team. In response, the South African team took the lead by scoring 404 runs in the first innings. Senuran Muthusamy played an unbeaten innings of 89 runs for South Africa. Apart from him, Tristan Stubbs added 76 runs to the team’s account. Asif Afridi took 6 wickets in this innings for Pakistan. The Pakistani team could score only 138 runs in its second innings. In this innings, Babar Azam scored 50 runs in 87 balls. The South African bowler Harmer took 6 wickets. With this, South Africa were given the target of only 68 runs to win. Ryan Rickelton and captain Aiden Markram gave a good start to the South African team chasing an easy target on the fourth day of the match. There was a partnership of 64 runs in 11.3 overs between the opening pair. Markram was out after scoring 42 runs in 45 balls, after which Stubbs also walked out.
