South Tangerang-rainy winds to trees streamed, it’s BMKG analysis

Jakarta – Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds occurred in the Bogor, Depok and Tangerang areas. The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) explained that there were several factors that caused heavy rain, accompanied by strong winds. Head of the BMKG weather forecast and early warning team, Ida Pramewardani, explained that heavy rain is accompanied by lightning and strong winds are weather phenomena that usually occur in transition or transition periods such as now. “During the transition period of the season, the rain pattern usually occurs from noon until late night, preceded by hot and warm air from the morning until noon,” Ida said Tuesday (7/10/2025). Browse to continue the content, he said the BMKG called on the public to be aware of the extreme weather that took place during the transition from the dry season after the rainy season since mid -September. Heavy rain is accompanied by wind and lightning occurs regularly during the transition of seasons. “Star headed plane heating can cause the formation of convective clouds, especially Cumulonimbus (CB) clouds. The properties of rain during the transition period tend to be uneven with moderate to heavy intensity that are short on a local scale, accompanied by light, strong winds, and can cause the hail,” he explained. He added that heavy rains in the Jabodetabek area were affected by regional and local atmospheric dynamic factors. One of the influential factors is the active waves with mixed Rossby in the western Java region (including Jabodetabek), as well as the negative value of the outgoing Longwave radiation (OLR) anomaly, which indicates a strong tendency towards rain cloud growth. “Other factors that reinforce the conditions for cloud growth are conditions with high high moisture, strong local lab, supported by winds (convergence) around South Tangerang, Tangerang Regency, Depok, Bogor Regency and the southern part of Jakarta from the afternoon to evening, thus causing heavy rain,” he explained. Ida said BMKG issued an early weather warning for Jabodetabek, which was valid from 11.15 WIB to 14.30 WIB with the potential for moderate to heavy intensity rains associated with lightning and strong winds. The warning was issued on the basis of BMKG observations, where there was cloud growth that had the potential to cause rain clouds since 11.00. “Up to 15.05 WIB was measured with moderate to heavy intensity in Tangerang Regency, South Tangerang, South Jakarta, Depok and Bogor Regency,” he said. Jabodetabek conditions the following week reminds us that the weather in the Jabodetabek area in the next week will generally be sunny and cloudy in the morning until noon. However, the potential for local rain in short duration can still occur during the afternoon until late night. “BMKG calls on the public to always be aware of the weather that can change at any time, use sunscreen and get enough body fluids, and stay away from trees, buildings and infrastructure that are already fragile when there is rain with strong winds,” Ida said. It was previously reported that heavy rains were accompanied by strong winds in the Depok, Tangerang City and South Tangerang (Tangel). A number of trees and billboards fell when the wind rained this afternoon. Also watch the video “Wind Rain, a number of trees in Jombang Tangel Fall” here: (JBR/May)
