Special arrangements in the festive season Railways ran more than 12,000 special trains

New Delhi, October 20 (IANS). In this special festive season, Indian Railways has made special preparations to make the journey of passengers smooth and safe. Railways operated 3,960 special trains between October 1 and 19, taking more than 1 million passengers to their destinations. Railway Minister, Information and Broadcasting Minister and Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnav visited the War Room of the Railway Board on Monday and reviewed the passenger traffic during the festivals. He appreciated the railway staff working 24×7 and also wished them a happy Diwali. In this festive season, Railways ran 4,287 more trains than last year. In the year 2024, 7,724 special trains were run during this period, while this time this number has been increased to 12,011. There are plans to run around 8,051 more special trains during Diwali and Chhath. In this special train operation, Northern Railway ran 1,919 trains, Central Railway ran 1,998 trains and Western Railway ran 1,501 trains. Apart from this, other zones like East Central Railway (1,217 trains) and North Western Railway (1,217 trains) also ran additional trains considering the passenger load. Railways have made arrangements like special holding areas, additional ticket counters, provision of drinking water, clean toilets and train schedule information to manage the rush of passengers. 15.17 lakh passengers traveled from major stations of the Delhi region (New Delhi, Delhi, Anand Vihar, Hazrat Nizamuddin and Shakurbasti) between October 16 and 19, which is 1.51 lakh more than last year. Ashwini Vaishnav also visited New Delhi and Anand Vihar railway stations and directly interacted with the passengers and took their feedback on the railway arrangements. He said that Indian Railways is working day and night to provide safe, comfortable and hassle free journey to the passengers. More than 12 lakh railway employees across the country are working continuously to ensure that passengers do not face any inconvenience during this special period of festivities. –IANS VKU/AS
