Sri Lanka increased safety near churches as Christmas approaches

Colombo, December 24 (IANS). Sri Lanka police offer extra protection to churches and other places of worship on Sunday and Monday in the light of Christmas. According to a report from the news agency Xinhua, police spokesman Nihal Thalduva said while talking to reporters that the clergy could contact police headquarters to help any security matter. He said that the army was also deployed near churches for additional safety. According to Thalduva, security has been increased since the Easter Sunday terror attacks in 2019 near religious institutions, saying that no one has any reason to be afraid to go to Christmas churches. In 2019, more than 260 people were killed in the explosions targeted by three churches and three luxury hotels in the islandland. -Ians MKS/SGK shares this story -tags
