We’ve found some dirty old secreted up in the basement of Stanley Kubrick’s Timeless Take on the Stephen King Horror Classic, The Shining.
Speaking with Movieb’s George Edelman, Weber reflected on working on one of the most faithful adaptations of a Stephen King Novel ever put on screen. Explaining how the three-party abc series came to be, Weber said:
“The reason why it was made was because the Stephen King Faithful, including Stephen King Himself, Were, While very cognizant of the you know, or how powerful and arguably Wonderful The Kubrick Film was with Jack Nicholson, it was not faithful to the book, and kubrick, and kubrick, Really deviate and boulderized a lot of the story. But there was a fantastic amount of fidelity to the book.

Steven Weber found himself in a position that would usually turn even a seasoned performer to jelly when taking on the lead role in The shining. Jack Nicholson is without doubt one of the greatest actors of multiple generations, and his 1980 performance as Jack torrance is regarded as one of the most memorable film appearances of all time. Surprisingly, though, Weber didnnt really consider the ramifications of what he was taking on following in the actor’s footsteps. He said:
“What we tried to do was, again, be faithful to the character. I either stupidly or brilliantly, just didnt even think of myself in Jack Nicholson’s shoes. I just approached it as a character and didn’t really give too much to it. Given more thought to certain aspects of the role, because I didn’T quite grass that really the shining is not about samples in a scary house. Redo a bunch of those scenes, because I have an awareness of what that means now, you know.
And that alcoholism, alcoholism per se, but just an understanding of addiction and bad behavior and what that does to a person, why it can be perceived as being mounted. “
Although there are some who will say that The shining Ministers Cannot Hold a Candle to Kubrick’s Version, The Expanded Runtime and Faithful Adaptation has much to enjoy-hard King fans. For Weber, the good thing is that there is plenty of room in the world for all of these versions of The shining. He added:
“I think, it was a job well done and worth viewing. People love it. I go to conventions, and people are all over that show. You know they love the shining. And you know this mick garris shining, and stephen King shining can live in the same universe as kubrick shining.”
