Strengthening rural economy state government priority: Chief Minister
Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said today that the state government is committed to strengthening the rural economy and that special emphasis is on promoting natural farming. The chief minister today served the meeting with the national rural livelihood and Himachal Pradesh Sakhi Sangh delegation here. “For the first time, the state government has determined the minimum support price (MSP) for milk, wheat, maize and turmeric produced by natural farming,” he said. Sukhu said MSP for maize was increased from Rs 30 to Rs 40 per kg and for wheat from Rs 40 to Rs 60 per kg, which benefited from millions of farmers. He said: “The state government will soon begin the purchase of raw turmeric at a rate of Rs 90 per kg to promote its cultivation under the name ‘Himachali -Borrie’ brand. More than 1.58 lakh farmers have so far been certified in the state.” The chief minister said the e-commerce sports language was started ‘Snow-Ira’ to facilitate the sale of products manufactured by women’s self-help groups. Products such as Snow-IRA are also becoming popular outside the state and plays an important role in women’s economic empowerment. He assured the delegation that their claims would be considered sympathetically and that the necessary steps would be taken. Share this story -tags
