Suicide Case of Haryana Police: Woman accuses DGP and SP of harassment
Chandigarh, October 8 (IANS). Senior IPS officer of Haryana Y. A new turn came in the case of suspected suicide of Puran Kumar. Puran Kumar’s wife and IAS officer Amneet P. Kumar wrote a letter to the Sector-11 police station Sho, Chandigarh, who made serious allegations of harassment against Haryana DGP Shatrujit Kapoor and Rohtak SP Narendra Bijraniya. He claimed the registration of FIR against both the officers in terms of section 108 of BNS (the suicide) and the SC-ST ACT and their immediate arrest. Amnet claimed that it was due to caste-based harassment by these officers that her husband shot himself at their home in Chandigarh on October 7. Amnet is an IAS officer in 2001 and is currently a commissioner in the Department of Civil Aviation and Women’s and Child Development of Haryana. She was with the delegation of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini in Japan. She returns to India immediately after the incident. In the letter, she said emotionally: “As a woman, I have seen my husband have been plagued by senior officials, including Haryana DGP, Shatrujit Kapoor. He revealed that Puran told him that DGP Kapoor was trying to imply in a false case as part of a conspiracy. In this regard, a fir was registered in Rohtak’s urban estate police station in terms of Article 308 (the suicide), in which Kumar’s staff member Sushil was involved. Amneet wrote, “My husband was also accused by tampering with the testimony. My husband died because of the torture by these two officers.” Apart from the suicide letter restored by CFL, she also mentions another copy found in the laptop bag in the closet, which she handed over to the police.
