George Springer's 3-run Homer helps Blue Jays beat Mariners 9-1 for wipe with 3 games
Seattle (AP)-George Springer hit a three-run homer in the fifth inning when the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Seattle Mariners 9-1 on Sunday to complete a three-match. Addison Barger added his first homer of the season, a solo shot in seventh place. The Blue Jays had no issues that carried off runs against Bryce Miller (2-4), and the sudden Marines, who entered the series with the best record of the major since April 7. Ernie Clement had a sacrificial fly in fourth place before Springer blows it open. Seattle struggled to do a lot of anything on the offensive side against opener Jose Urena and Piggyback reliever Eric Lauer (1-0), with the duo combined to produce 6 2/3 innings of one-run ball. It was a forgetful first half of a six -game for the Mariners, who scored seven runs over the three games. The Blue Jays returned to .500 (20-20) with a 4-2 ride. They are 7-4 in their last 11 games. The match was already in the direction of the Blue Jays, when Springer turned on a fast ball in the middle of Miller and it started 416 feet from the left field line. Left -fold Randy Arozaena turns around and watches the ball fly, but doesn’t bother to run. The whip was the second of the season for the Blue Jays. Toronto went straight to the visit to Washington of March 31-2 April. Seattle’s right-hand Emerson Hancock (1-1, 5.70 era) begins on Monday night against the visiting New York Yankees. Clarke Schmidt (0-1, 4.79) gets the ball for New York to start the three-game. The Blue Jays will start a three-match against the visit to Tampa Bay on Tuesday. ___
