Previous report suggests that Apple’s local value added for different models was about 5-8% when it started producing in India in 2020 at the beginning of the Production Incentive Scheme (PLI), but it has now risen sharply to about 20% for different models. The technical giant compiled the Vanilla iPhone 15 variant in India, but last year it doubled the production of India and also started the composition of iPhone 16 Pro models. Impact of Trump tariffs: According to the Bloomberg report, Apple’s iPhone shipments have risen from India to the US after US President Donald Trump announced “reciprocal” rates. The Cupertino-based technical giant is also expected to prioritize iPhones of its Indian supply chain for its US clients. Meanwhile, the Trump administration announced the release of smartphones, computers and other electronic devices of its reciprocal rates on Saturday. This means that iPhones made in India will not have extra rates now, while iPhones in China will also get a postponement with a lower rate of 20% compared to the total rate of 145% charged by the US government.
