"Saudi Arabia for Electricity" has suffered losses of 1.19 billion Riyale due to the rights of shareholders

The Saudi electricity business recorded losses due to the rights of shareholders of 1.194 billion Riyals during the first quarter of 2025, compared to the losses of 1.289 billion Riyals in the same period of 2024. Despite the announcement of the company on the Saudi Stock Exchange, “Tadawul”, it and the net income to the company returned in the first quarter of this year in losses due to profit distributions on an instrument. The speculation amounted to 2.162 billion Riyals, which negatively affected the return on shareholders at 0.29 Riyale per share. The speculation instrument represents financial obligations converted into a royal instrument within the structure of the electricity sector. A speculative agreement was signed between the company and the Saudi government represented by the Ministry of Finance, to transform the net financial obligations as a result of the government, amounting to 167.92 billion Riyals, to a financial instrument within the rights of shareholders.
