What Woman Captures Parents Doing for Senior Dog Has Internet in Bits – ryan

Most dog owners love spoiling their fur-babies, but a couple from Boston, Massachusetts, took it a little too far, putting their 14-year-old pup and his overindulgent expectations before their own comfort.

A viral TikTok video shared by the couple’s daughter in April under the username @chaktah.lhasaapso shows her parents sharing one single pillow as they sleep in their bed while their Lhasa apso enjoys not only half of their mattress but an entire pillow to himself.

“Guys my parents are sharing a pillow so our senior dog can have one for himself,” the poster, Namzey Gentso, writes in the caption.

Gentso told Newsweek that Chaktah is like a brother to her, and while he’s always been sassy, he’s become even more stoic and demanding in his older years.

“His personality is akin to that of Ron Swanson from the TV show Parks and Recreation,” she said.

Chaktah is partially blind and hard of hearing now, but he’s still a youthful dog who enjoys getting pampered by his owners.

“These days, he doesn’t wag his tail a lot but he will for puppies, cats, and a select few favorite people. His name means ‘two colors,’ and it comes from a Tibetan opera story of a king and his favorite hunting dog, Chaktah. The funny part is that in the opera story, Chaktah is a female dog. But our little man rocks the name still.”

Moreover, according to Gentso, he runs a tight ship when it comes to bedtimes.

“He’ll make sure the family knows when it’s time to go upstairs to sleep, including nap times during the day, and freely voices his displeasure when my parents stay up later than he’d like (8pm is when he wants to go upstairs to sleep).

“My dad proactively spoils him the most, while my mom will complain about my dog’s neediness but then proceed to give him the world anyway.”

The Lhasa apso is a thousand-year-old breed originally from Tibet, according to the American Kennel Club (AKC), famous for its floor-length, flat-hanging coat parted in the middle and draping each side of the body.

These pups’ ideal weight is around 12 to 18 pounds, and they usually live around 15 years. While all pups have to eventually get old, there are things you can do to help them live the healthiest, longest, and happiest life with you.

Feeding them a high-quality diet, taking care of their teeth and oral hygiene, keeping them active and mentally enriched, adding supplements to their diet, and taking them to the vet regularly are all great ways of taking care of your senior pup, says Preventive Vet.
