Gurugram: Ed action, assets worth Rs 153 of former promoters of Universal Buildwell
Gurugram, September 28 (IANS). The Maintenance Directorate (ED) took large steps in Gurugram, Haryana and attached assets worth Rs 153.16 Crore of former promoters of Universal Buildwell Private Limited. The Regional Office of Ed at Gurugram, which performs, has temporarily attached and moving properties worth a total of Rs 153.16 crore from Universal Buildwell Private Limited and its group institutions. According to the information given by the ED, the attached assets include 29.45 hectares of land in Kotoputli-Bahrod area of Rajasthan, several units universal trading tower in Gurugram Sector-49 and Fixed Deposit (FD) of Rs 3.16 Crore. This action was done on the basis of the interim attachment order issued on September 17, 2025 under the terms of the Money Wauninging Act (PMLA), 2002. The ED launched the investigation based on more than 30 criminal sparrels filed against Universal Buildwell in Delhi-NCR and his promoters Raman Puri, Vikram Puri and Varun Puri. These cases are registered under different sections of IPC, 1860. It is alleged that the company has not completed real estate projects in time and that it has fraudulently caused financial loss of rupees by cheating home buyers and investors. The ED arrested the three promoters and former directors under the PMLA on July 22, 2025, which is currently in judicial detention. The company was later taken to the Corporate Insolvency Solution Process (CIRP), according to which the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) approved a solution scheme in the interests of home buyers and financial creditors. However, despite this, home buyers have to pay extra funds to acquire their apartment or property. Most of the investors invested funds in these projects before 2010, but the construction work has come to a standstill since 2010. Now he is expected to get more delay to gain possession. The data collected by the Samadhan Professional Persons revealed that the company and its promoters have raised more than Rs 1000 crore of home buyers on 8 different projects in Gurugram and Faridabad over the past 12 years, but only a part of this amount was spent on construction and development. By obscuring the remaining amount, the accused has acquired promoters and other assets for personal benefits.
