Prisoner escaped from the court in Mumbai, threatened by reaching the MNS leader directly
Mumbai, May 24 (IANS). A surprising case came to light on Mumbai’s security system. Imran Khan, a prisoner in the drug case in Arthur Road jail, escaped from the court premises and reached the office of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) leader Amitkar and threatened him. The incident raised serious questions about the functioning and safety of the Mumbai police. The incident happened on May 16 when Imran Khan was brought to court. After the hearing, he would be arrested in the police, but he escaped from the court’s premises without any supervision. He wears a mask, rides on a friend’s bike and reaches the MNS office in the Seven Road area of Bhayakhal. There he threatened MNS leader AMIT MATKAR and said, ‘Why is it sitting here? Not to sit. Otherwise, understand, be different to bear the consequences. ‘ The entire incident was caught in CCTV cameras installed outside the office. Amit Matkar immediately filed a complaint with the nearest Agrapada police station and handed CCTV footage to the police. Police have registered a case against Imran Khan and his partner and began investigation. Imran was arrested by the Mumbai Crime branch in December 2024 with 40 kg hemp and has since been in judicial detention. After this incident, Mumbai police faced serious allegations of negligence and collusion. The prisoner of a sensitive place, such as the court sites, exposed the police security system. After catching the case, police acted quickly and suspended two constables Amol Saracale and Sandeep Suryavanshi with immediately on duty. A DCP level officer is also entrusted with the task of intensive investigation into the case. The whole picture of the case will only be clear when the result of the investigation and the conspiracy behind Imran’s absolution are revealed.
