Merrill Kelly hits a season-high 11, Diamondbacks Edge Rockies 1-0 for Series Profit

Phoenix (AP) -MERRILL Kelly beat a season-high 11 while giving up one hit over seven innings, Kettle Marte led 1-0 on Sunday. The D-Backs took two of three games over the weekend and the Rockies denied their first series win this season. Colorado dropped to 8-38, the worst start for a big league team through 46 games since 1901. Colorado threatened in ninth place when Kyle Farmer doubled a one-time single and Hunter Goodman. Ryan McMahon was deliberately walked, Shelby Miller pulled a pop-up from Brenton Doyle and Michael Toglia and hit a line result to the short-stop Geraldo Perdomo. The duel with the hard fight came one night after the Rockies won a 14-12 Slugfest. Kelly (5-2) only admitted to sixth place, when Jordan Beck’s hard foundation in the third baseline came past Eugenio Suárez for a double. The 36-year-old man started giving up one run or none of his past seven. Marte came to the right in the first, his sixth long ball of the season. He reached the base three times and had two hits. The Rockies-Smokie Judge Chase Dollander (2-5) gave up three strokes and two hikes through 4 2/3 overs and knocked out six. Kelly used a comebacker in sixth place and trapped Beck in an outline and marked him for the first time. It helped to crush one of the Rockies’ point opportunities. Kelly just started nine earnings runs over his past seven, and 43 overs.
