Egypt intends to provide 'Wi -Fi' calls in the last quarter of 2024
Telecommunications working in Egypt are currently conducting technical tests to serve ‘Wi -Fi’ calls known as ‘WiFi Calling’ in preparation for the launch of them before the end of this year, according to two sources familiar with the file, they spoke to ‘Al Sharq’, provided their names are not published. Four businesses work in Egypt to operate the communications -cellphone, namely: “Vodafone Egypt”, “Orange”, “E and Egypt”, and “Egypt Telecom”, which the state owns. The mobile businesses that work in the local market last year applied to the telecommunications regulatory agency last year with their perceptions and proposals for service to approve their organizational and operating rules, according to one of the people who spoke to the East. And the technology of “Wi -Fi” calls means making traditional mobile calls, but using connection via WI -FI instead of connecting to the mobile network so that the user can benefit from a soil internet from the call service. One person said that the purpose of the new service is to “strengthen the signal in the homes, and is devoted to reducing poor coverage on crowded places and high buildings, and the service will be at the same price of traditional calls according to the accounting system for each subscriber.” Competition in the cellphone market in Egypt is strengthened amid high market saturation rates. The average mobile price in Egypt is the cheapest in the Middle East.
