2 corpses, 1 house, 0 witness ... the story of the murder that never found a killer

A sad incident came to light about 17 years ago in Noida, next to Delhi, on the morning of May 16, 2008. Aarushi Talwar, a 14-year-old daughter of Dr. Rajesh Talwar and dr. Nupur Talwar, was found dead in her room. In the initial investigation, the domestic assistant of home Hemraj banjade was considered the most important suspect, but after 24 hours, Hemraj’s body was also found on the roof of the same home. This double murder case not only shook the entire country, but also made headlines at international level. Even after 17 years, the matter remains a puzzle with many unanswered questions. When Aarushi’s body was found from the first suspect after the unresolved story, the Talwar couple called their friends and family members instead of informing the police. Hours later, when police reached the place, they told Hemraj escaped after he killed him. Noida police sent teams to Nepal to catch Hemraj, but the next day the direction of the entire investigation changed after Hemraj’s body was found on the roof of the house. The question was that if Hemraj was dead, who was the killer of Aarushi? The suspicion of the police went to talwar couple. On May 18, police said the murder was done by a surgical blade, which is often with a dentist. Rajesh Talwar was arrested on May 23. The CBI investigation and one question for another on June 1, 2008, the high-profile case was presented to the CBI. The CBI also arrested Rajesh Talwar. Many questions arose during the investigation, whose answers have not been fully received so far: Why did the parents not call the police immediately? After the body of Aarushi was found, why didn’t the talwar couple notify the police immediately? Why did he first call his family and friends? This question remains the biggest mystery of this matter today. The secret of the door: in the morning when the slave Bharti Devi rang the bell, the door was closed from the inside. Then Nupur Talwar opened the inner door and threw off the key, after which Bharti opened the door from the outside. If Hemraj ran away, why was the door closed from the inside? Why was Hemraj considered suspicious? Initially, police considered Hemraj a killer as a killer of the talwar couple. When the body of Hemraj was found, questions were also asked about the credibility of the police. Did police consider Hemraj a suspicious without investigation? Double murder fold: After receiving the body of Hemraj, this case turned into double murder. The person who was considered a killer also seems to be the victim. Now was the question who killed both? Router’s story: CBI said in his closing report that the internet router of the house was the night of the incident and remained between 12 and 1pm. This proves that someone used the internet at the time. But who did it? Fingerprint and bottle: In the investigation no fingerprint was found on the bottle of liquor. It also remains a mystery that if Hemraj is killed on the roof, why not find his blood marks in the room? The story of the court ruling and acquitted by the CBI in his closing report blamed the Talwar couple, and on this basis the hearing was conducted. On November 26, 2013, CBI Hof Rajesh and Nupur sentenced Talwar to life imprisonment and convicted both murders. There were some pillars behind this decision: The door of the room was closed from the inside and no outsider entered the house. The router proves that someone awakened the night of the incident. Hemraj’s body was found on the roof of the house, proving that the murder was done inside. On October 12, 2017, however, the Allahabad High Court acquitted the talwar couple. The Supreme Court said that the CBI did not have concrete evidence and that the principle of ‘last theory’ did not apply to the talwar couple. The Supreme Court also said that the circumstances on which the CBI court was sentenced were not so strong that they could prove the charges by continuing the suspicion. Even today, the unresolved puzzle Aarushi-Hemraj murder case remains an unresolved knot. The talwar couple is acquitted, but who was the right culprit, the question remains intact today. This case has become a milestone in the Indian legal system, which shows that circumstantial evidence is sometimes not enough. Whether or not Aarushi and Hemraj got justice, this question is still in the minds of millions of people, who will probably never be answered.
