The M 5.3 earthquake occurred in Northern Sumatra Tapteng

Central Tapanuli -an earthquake with size (m) 5.3 occurred in Central Tapanuli (Tapteng), Northern Sumatra. The earthquake did not cause tsunami potential. “No tsunami potential,” BMKG wrote in its official X account on Thursday (7/8/2025). The epicenter was at the coordinates of 1.29 LO-98.80 BT. “45 km southwest of Central Tapanuli, Northern Sumatra,” BMKG wrote. The epicenter is at a depth of 60 km.
