16 -Year -old Anmol won the title of Senior National Badminton Champion
Guwahati, December 24 (IANS). Sunday, in the final of the 85th Senior National Badminton Championships 2023, the young emerging women’s single cake Anmol Kharb won the national title by defeating Tanvi Sharma of Punjab 15-21, 21-17, 16-8 in the women’s singles. The tournament organized by the Badminton Association of India (BAI) was held in Assam after four years. In the female singles match, which lasted about an hour, Tanvi was a match ahead of Haryana’s commuter after the first game. However, it made no difference in India’s number 1 in the U-19 and U-17 BAI rankings; Anmol’s confidence did not reduce because he made a very good use of angles on the track, and also left his mark in the next two games with his outstanding court cover. Tanvi, who was already 8-16 in the decisive match, complained to the match officials of an injury, as Anmol was finally declared the winner. Meanwhile, the title of the men’s singles was reversed because the unacceptable chirag and the national title won by defeating Telangana’s fourth seed Tharan M 21-14, 13–21, 21-9. On the BAI rankings, India’s number two player Tharun took the match in the second game in his team after losing the first game. But in the decisive match, Chirag made a brilliant comeback and set his dominance by putting a smart stroke at the right time. Dhruv Kapila-Tanisha Cresto, who recently became the champion of Odisha Masters 2023 in the top of the mixed doubles, dominated the match from the start. He easily defeated Nitin Kumar-Nawadha Mangalam’s sixth sowed pair 21-13, 21–8 in 25 minutes to run to his first national title. While Priya Devi Konzengbam-Shruti Mishra won the female doubles title by defeating Ritika Thakar-Simran Singhi of Maharashtra 11-21, 21-14 21-18 in the final for one hour and 11 minutes. Ritika Simran, who came as a strong contender for the final, made a good start, but Priya and Shruti kept their patience even after being 10-15 in the decisive game and performing better than the fifth seed player in the next two games. -Ians SGK shares this story tags
