BBMB assigns water according to the question of partner statements

The Technical Committee of Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) assigned water from the Nangal Dam to Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan according to their claim. According to the decision made at the meeting held on May 15, Punjab will get 17,000 Cuseecs, Rajasthan will get 12,400 Cuseecs and will get Haryana 10,300 Cuseecs water. However, there is a screw in the case of Haryana. According to the details of the meeting received by the Tribune, Haryana was awarded 10,300 Cuseecs water for ten days from 21 May on the basis of the ‘safe carrying capacity’ of the Bhakra Main Line (BML) channel. This channel carries water to both Punjab and some parts of Haryana. Punjab has always claimed that the channel needs maintenance work, allowing it to “take water to his optimal transport. The channel capacity is 11,200 Cuseecs, while the design capacity is 12,500 Cuseecs. Punjab will also use 3000 Cuseecs water from this, which will only allow 8,200 Cuseecs water to flow in Haryana. This will give Haryana 2,100 Cuseecs water from the question. In the meeting, Punjab objected to the increase in water allocation to Haryana, saying that the neighboring state has a 70 percent stake in the water flowing from the channel. It was also decided at the meeting that a committee with members of the partner states, the Central Water Commission and BBMB would be formed, which would consider issues such as the period and loss and profit of the dams on a real basis instead of traditional values. Punjab also urged that the work to restore the third tunnel of the Pong Dam should not be done, as demand for water to the irrigation will increase from June. Rajasthan government officials also gave their consent in this regard. The board has now decided not to expand the maintenance work. As a result, 4,000 Cuseecs water will be released from the Pong Dam from May 21. Share this story -tags
