America-China tariff war has an opportunity to become global hub: leaders in the industry
New -Delhi, April 17 (IANS). Given the increasing tariff war between the US and China, industry leaders believe it is a golden opportunity for India to become the center of global economic development and innovation. In a conversation with Ians on the occasion of the 120th anniversary celebrations of the PhD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PhDCCI), the vice -chairman and managing director Rajiv Juneja said: “This is a very different situation and a great opportunity for India. The future of the country is very bright.” Juneja further said: “Becoming a world leader in areas such as artificial intelligence (AI) is currently a distant dream, but the country is on the right path.” According to the Vice Chair of Mankind Pharma, “the country must take small steps. Many startups are doing well. If the youth get support from the government, one day we can become the center of the world in AI.” He praised the government’s focus on youth skills development and empowerment and described the growing infrastructure and support system as the right step. Juneja told Ians: “The government is doing a good job. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is very concerned about youth. Opportunities are created and the right steps are taken.” Sanjay Bhatia, managing director of Hindustan Tin Works Limited, told the Ians news agency: “This is the best time for India. The way India is progressing and its identity is made worldwide, this is a wonderful opportunity for our industries. The government works to trade comfortably and we hope that more steps will be done.” He added, “India is in a good position to withstand global shocks like tariff growth. Our base is strong. These world shocks are temporary. India has come back on track.” At AI, Bhatia said that India has resources and talent to lead the region. Indians have contributed to AI worldwide. If we train our existing employees and equip them with new skills, we can ensure work continuity and create new jobs. -Ians ABS/ Share This Story Tags
