The largest source of air pollution was revealed in Delhi -ncr, Caqm also said the solution -CAQM said the transport sector contributes most to the NCR air pollution of Delhi

The CAQM member Virendra Sharma said the transport sector is not the biggest contribution to air pollution in NCR. It is necessary to delete the old, very polluting BS three/BS-four vehicles, especially lights, medium and heavy trucks, as it makes high emissions, which are important for air pollution control. By Jagran News Network under the editorship of: Sonu Suman updated: Fri, 20 Jun 2025 10:37 PM (IST) State Bureau, New -Delhi. Virendra Sharma, a member (technical) of the Air Quality Management Commission (CAQM), said on Friday that it is not necessary to emphasize that the transport sector makes the biggest contribution to the total weight of air pollution throughout the NCR. A large fleet of vehicles that have completed the age (EOL) vehicles must be converted into scrap as part of the air pollution control efforts associated with the region. He told all these vehicles under the category of highly polluting vehicles of BS-three/BS-four standards. Sharma said that different assessment studies have determined that all classes of transport and commercial trucks-it means, light vehicles (LGV), medium freight vehicles (MGGs) and vehicles with heavy goods (HGV)-especially those driving under the BS-Four Emissions standards. Real -time data uptake and detection of possible BS -four vehicles contain 4.5 times more PM emission than BS Six Vehicles. Sharma Sharma, ANPR cameras installed at 500 petrol pumps over Delhi, became possible at real time recording and detection of vehicles. So far, a total of 3.63 crore vehicles have been checked by this system, of which 4.90 lakh vehicles have been identified as age vehicles. In addition to the active monitoring of vehicles data, 29.52 lakh vehicles renewed their pollution control certificate (PUCC), which led to the deduction of 168 crore challengers. He said to strengthen the enforcement, 100 dedicated teams from the Delhi government’s transport department actively monitor the data of vehicles to identify fuel stations with most EOL vehicles and to ensure purposeful compliance action. It is known that the number of vehicles that completed the age in Delhi is about 62 lakhs. From this, 41 lakhs are two -wheelers, 18 lakh cars, while three lakh three wheelers are vehicles.
