India will show the achievements of its power sector at the meeting of Brics energy ministers

New -Delhi, May 17 (IANS). India will show the achievements of its power and energy sector during the upcoming meeting of Brics energy ministers. The meeting will be held in Brazil on May 19. The Ministry of Energy made this statement on Saturday. Minister of Electricity and Housing and Housing and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal, will represent India at this high-level meeting. The theme of this meeting is ‘Empowering Global South Corporation for Inclusive and Sustainable Global Governance’. “This platform will bring energy ministers from Brics countries -Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa together to discuss major issues such as energy security, ability and stability,” the ministry said. India plans to use this platform to showcase its achievements of the past decade. These achievements include 90 percent increase in power generation capacity, renewable energy, progress with green hydrogen and biofuels, as well as innovation in the practice of sustainable energy. This international meeting is held at a time when India set ambitious targets regarding nuclear energy. During a meeting of the Ministry of Power Last month, the Union Minister said that the government was aimed at raising the nuclear energy capacity by 2047 to 100 GW under the ‘developed Indian’ approach. India currently operates 25 nuclear reactors with a total installed capacity of 8,880 MW. Another eight reactor with 6.600 MW is under construction, and additional 10 reactors (7,000 MW) are in the pre -project stage. The emphasis on nuclear energy is in line with the goal of India to play pure-zemissions by 2070, with nuclear energy, an important role in reducing the dependence on fossil fuels and ensuring energy security. The Union Minister said that nuclear energy can also be used outside power generation – hydrogen production and space heating, etc. -Ians abs/
