Rajasthan: Cabinet approves Maharana Pratap Sports University Bill 2025, players will get new dimension

Jaipur, September 19 (IANS). The Rajasthan government has taken historical steps to strengthen the sports sector and approved the ‘Maharana Pratap Sports University Jaipur Bill 2025’. The decision was made at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma Friday. The bill will be enacted in the upcoming meeting session, which will first establish the Sports University in the state. This step will be a milestone to improve and prepare Rajasthan’s sports talents for international competition. In the Cabinet press briefing, the Deputy CM Dr. Premchand Bairwa and the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Yogaram Patel, provided information on this while talking to reporters. Bairwa said this university will be established in the Achrol region of Jaipur, where Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) provided 1.9 Lakh square meters of land. The university will focus on sports science, technology, performance analysis and research. This institute is equipped with modern sports infrastructure and becomes an excellence center in accordance with the national education policy. It will provide degrees and diploma courses to the players, which will prepare them for global opportunities such as the Olympics. Jogaram Patel, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, said: “Prime Minister Narendra Modi will come to Rajasthan for the fourth time in this office. Patel said this decision was related to Khelo India and One District One Sports Policy, which will also promote talent at village level. This decision is part of the initiative of the Minister of Sport, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, who was announced in the July 2024 budget. In other decisions, the Cabinet also approved the medical entry fees in the NRI quota to be 2.5 times (about Rs 23.93 lakhs annually). Pension rules for parents and disabled children of dead government employees have also been simplified.
