Accident in Bokaro Steel Plant, four contract workers who are seriously scorched
Bokaro, September 28 (IANS). A major accident happened at Bokaro Steel Plant in Jharkhand on Sunday at about 4pm. Four contract workers were very scorched due to sudden fire in steel melting store 2 (SMS-2). The injured have been identified as Ranjit Mahatha, Brajesh Mahatha, Putash Mahali and Praveen Kumar. Sources said that all the injured were first taken to the plant’s medical unit, where their condition was referred to the first assistance to the Bokaro General Hospital (BGH). According to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred when the crane was picked up by a hot metal. Suddenly the rope breaks from the crane and the hot metal rinses and falls down. As a result, strong flames arose and four workers working in the area were hit by him. BGH sources said Ranjit Mahatha scorched over 90 percent. Brajesh Mahatha and conversa mahali are scorched by about 60 percent, while Praveen Kumar is scorched up to 45 percent. Everyone is admitted to the ICU and the team of doctors constantly monitor them. After getting information about the incident, the family members of the workers reached the place. In June this year, a similar accident occurred in SMS-2, in which five laborers were injured. The contract workers working in the plant blame the management officials for the accident. He says such accidents are constantly happening due to neglect of safety standards. No official statement was issued by the plant management over the incident at this accident.
