Summary The integration with Open Network for Digital Commerce enables Rapido users to discuss Delhi Metro tickets directly within the app. It aims to make the first-mile connection so commuters can use a single platform for bike rides and subway journeys. The riding platform Rapido sharpened its focus on Delhi, which became the largest market in India. The company works closely with Open E-Commerce Network Ondc to deepen integration with public transport systems. “Delhi is our biggest market. Every day uses more than 8 lakh customers Rapido in Delhi alone,” says Rapido CEO Aravind Sanka. He added that a growing part – more than 1 lakh daily riders – uses the platform to travel to and from metro stations. The integration with Open Network for Digital Commerce allows Rapido users to discuss Delhi Metro tickets directly within the app. It aims to make the first-mile connection so commuters can use a single platform for bike rides and subway journeys. Users can plan, book and pay multiple legs of a commute in one place, making it a combined user experience. Metro tickets are already directly via UNDC in cities such as Delhi, Kochi and Chennai, with Bangalore and multiple Mumbai Metro lines that will soon be living. “We are excited about Rapido who also allows these lines,” says Vibhor Jain, CEO of Ondc. ‘Except for subways, we look at mobility holistically, and bus ticket is a big part of the trip. I’m sure Rapido will live with it soon. ‘ Rapido is not the only company that matches the vision of UNDC about open mobility. Namma Yatri was the first to fully integrate with and introduced the Saas model that dominant players like Uber, Ola, have since adopted. In a previous interview with Mint, the company said it was now looking to expand to Northern India, while also launching services in adjacent verticals such as ambulance and commuting. Meanwhile, Rapido is also investigating adjacent categories, such as food delivery to diversify its offer and compete with Swiggy and Zomato. However, the company faced large regulatory setbacks in Karnataka, where a blanket ban on bicycle -taxis disrupted one of its biggest markets. It not only affected the user base, but also gave one of its nuclear streams. Uber also had a partnership with UNDC to present metra ticket booking, started with Delhi Metro integration directly within its app, which marked Uber’s entry into public transport via the Open Network. The company also plans to expand Metro tickets to three more cities and explore B2B logistics services by UNDC. Catch all the corporate news and updates on live currency.
