The 13th annual ceremony in honor of high school artists in New York was held on May 21.

The Roger Rees Awards

Tatum Hopkins of Nyack High School and Calvin Lindo of Archbishop Stepinac High School were named the 13th annual winners of the Outstanding Performer Award Roger Rees Awards May 21.

Hopkins was recognized for her actions as Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors, and Lindo for his actions as Frankie Valli in Jersey Boys.

The receipt of awards was also Lauren Marchand of Jericho High School for her performance as Elsa in Frozenand Tyler Turetsky of Roslyn High School for his performance as Crutchie in News. They were both named emerging artist winners.

The Roger Rees Awards, named in memory of the Tony award-winning actor and director, best honoring the NYC area high school theater, with two winners participating in the National High School Musical Theater Awards, known as the Jimmy Awards, which was presented in Broadway’s Minskoff Theater on June 26.

This year, Marchand and Lindo will represent the Roger Rees awards and the Greater New York area in the 2023 Jimmys. Marchand walks in for Hopkins as Hopkins fits in the workshop production of The Queen of Versailles. Traditionally, the two outstanding performers would be selected to represent.

Farmingdale High School’s choir group Daler A Cappella, who was also recognized during the year’s Roger Rees awards. The 15 members and their music director Jessica Mischke were recognized with the Harmony Helper Award for excellent Choral Performance Award of the Goren Family Foundation.

Winners were selected by a panel of professionals in the industry, including Tony nominee and Parade Director Michael Arden, Disney Theatrical Group’s Kiara Brown Clark, Tony award-winning producer Greg Nobel, Tara Rubin Casting’s Merri Sugarman, Tony award-winning composer Jeanine treasuresand Fairleigh Dickinson University Faculty Member C the woman.

The Roger Rees Awards are hosted by the Broadway Education Alliance with support of Disney Theatrical Group, Broadway Plus, Broadway HD, Douglas Denoff, Rick Elice, Nancy Nagel Gibbs, Harmony Helper, Kimberly Akimbo On Broadway, Music Theater International, National Foundation of Musical Theater, Theatrical Rights Worldwide, Withum and other industry leaders.
