Asaduddin Owaisi's attack in the Malegaon Blast case - "acquired accused, Muslims made on the basis of religion due to poor investigation"

The political reaction has tightened after all the accused were acquitted by the Special Court of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in the Malegaon Blast case. Asaduddin Owaisi, head of the Majlis-e-offehadul Muslimene (Aimim), made serious allegations about the decision on Thursday. He said that this decision was the result of ‘deliberately conducted investigation into a substandard’ and raised questions about the country’s legal system. Owaisi wrote on the social media platform ‘X’ (formerly Twitter): “Six Namaji died in the Malegaon explosions and about 100 people were injured. Despite the fact that all the accused were acquitted. Why? Because the case was deliberately investigated.” He further claimed that the Muslim community was targeted in the incident on the basis of religion. Owaisi wrote, “These people are dead because they were Muslims. It is a gross insult to justice.” Let me tell you that this case was dated on September 29, 2008, when six people were killed and more than a hundred people were injured in the bomb blasts in Malegaon, Maharashtra. BJP -LP Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, Lt Col Purohit and others were accused in this case. However, after the case that lasted 17 years, on July 31, 2025, the NIA Court acquitted all the accused and said that there was not enough evidence against them. Owaisi, who describes this decision as “defeat of justice”, is questioning whether those innocent people will now get justice? He also demanded that the role of the investigative agencies in the case be fairly investigated. The statement of the Aimim chief came at a time when in this case it was sensationally demanded by a former ATS officer that the investigation under political pressure tried to turn the investigation into Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwatwat. In such a situation, Owaisi’s statement makes the whole matter more sensitive. Political analysts believe that the Malegaon Blast case has now become a matter of social and political debate, where the legal system, the reliability and common harmony of the investigative agencies raise serious questions.
