Charlie Kirk shot a suspect to return to Utah Court in October

(Bloomberg)-The 22-year-old man accused of killing conservative commentator Charlie Kirk earlier this month will appear in a Utah court on October 30, after a judge granted a request of his defense lawyer to review more time to review “volume” evidence that drafted the state charge. “There is a significant amount of discovery in this case,” Chad Grunander, a prosecutor in the Utah County Attorney Office, told the judge in a court session on Monday to determine if there is enough evidence to renounce a preliminary trial and direct hearing. Tyler James Robinson faces a possible death penalty in connection with the shooting of Kirk. His attorney appointed, Kathryn Nester, told Judge Tony F. Graf that she intends to ask for a preliminary hearing, but wants more time to review the evidence and asked for a delay in the trial. Grave granted the request. Robinson was charged with first -degree aggravating murder, criminal dismissal of a gun causing injuries, two counts of hindrance of justice, two counts of evidence that tampered and made a violent offense in the presence of a child. If convicted, Robinson stands up for 25 years in prison for these charges if he avoids the death penalty. Robinson has not yet made a plea against the charges against him and is not expected to do so until the court schedules a settlement. He almost monitored Monday’s court session from prison. Kirk, 31, was shot and killed on September 10 while talking at an outdoor event at Utah Valley University. He was known for starting Turning Point USA, a group dedicated to having young voters gather on conservative causes, and played a key role in promoting young voters to support President Donald Trump’s bid for office.
