'Not a good time it was gettable': Pat Cummins reflects on SRHS -but defeat

Kolkata (Western Bengal) [India]April 4 (Ani): Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) Captain Pat Cummins admitted his team was far from his best on Thursday after having a 80 -run defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Kolkata on Thursday. The loss was SRH’s third consecutive setback in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, which they searched for answers. Cummins expressed disappointment over the missed opportunity and believes that the target is within reach. “Not a good time. I think it was gettable, a fairly good wicket. Link too much in the field and then fell well in the end, ‘he said after the game. He emphasized the need for introspection, suggesting that the team may need to reconsider their approach. “We have to be realistic, three games in a row have not come for us. We may have to look back on whether we could choose better options. Our fighters are best if they tackle the game, but if we look back, we could have taken different options,” he said, as quoted by ESPNcricinfo. While SRH’s bowling was not very weak, the campaigns were expensive. “It was mainly our fielding; in general bowling was not bad. We should have taken some catches and stopped them a little earlier,” Cummins admitted. The SRH captain explained that the conditions did not prefer the conditions to turn. “We just bowled out three overs, the ball was not poignant for us either. That’s why we chose to go without Him, ‘he said. Despite the fierce defeat, Cummins emphasized the importance of moving forward. “I will probably address whether we could have used different options, but I do not want to live too much about it. We will go back to a venue we know so well now,” he concluded. With the match, SRH won the throw and fed first. It seems their decision paid well when they sent Quinton de Kock and Sunil Narine for single figures, which reduced KKR to 16/2, but a counter-attack by Rahane (38 in 27 balls, with four and four sixes) and Raghuvanshi (50 in 32 balls, with five fours and twice). After the rapid loss of these two stars, Venkatesh Iyer (60 in 29 balls, with seven fours and three sixes) and Rinku Singh (32* in 17 balls, with four boundaries and a six) CKR to 200/6 in their 20 overs with a 91 run for the fifth wicket. Mohammed Shami (1/29) and Harshal Patel (1/43) were top wickets for SRH. During the run, SRH was never really in the game and lost wickets quickly. Vaibhav Arora (3/29) and Varun Chakravarthy (3/22) stood out as only Heinrich Klaasen (33 in 21 balls, with two fours and two sixes) and Kamindu Mendis (27 in 20 balls, with four and two sixes), could cross the 20-run mark. With this victory, KKR’s campaign is somewhat back on track as with two wins and two losses. They are in fifth place. SRH is at the bottom with victory and three losses. (Ani)
