A special court in Mumbai on Tuesday acquitted Gangster Ravi Pujari in a case related to the murder of a suspected member of the gang of fleeing underworld Don Dawood Ibrahim. Special Judge AM Patil acquitted Ravi Pujari in the case under the Divisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the case under the relevant divisions of the Organized Crime Control Act (MCOCA). The prosecution said Anil Sharma, suspected member of the Dawood Ibrahim gang, was shot dead by Gangster Chhota Rajan’s operative on September 2, 1999. The prosecution said that Sharma was named in the Mumbai’s JJ Campus charge on September 12. And Sharma was on bail in that case. The prosecution claims that Sharma’s murder was the result of enmity between Dawood and Rajan Gangs and it was carried out by the organized crime syndicate. Earlier, the court acquitted 11 accused in the case with reference to a lack of evidence. A case was also registered for the alleged role of Chhota Rajan in the murder, but he was later acquitted, as there was no evidence available to prove before the court that Rajan Sharma was part of the conspiracy to murder.
