South Korea and America discussed the issue of foreign exchange manipulation
Seoul, September 28 (IANS). The president’s office said on Sunday that South Korea and the United States have discussed the possibility of declaring Seoul a country that manipulates a country after Kuun-Coul’s recent remarks about the finances of the Foreign Exchange (FX) talks of allies. According to a report by the Yonhap News Agency, Koo told reporters on Saturday that South Korea and the US have completed their foreign exchange talks and plan to declare its results soon. His remarks speculate that there may be some progress in Seoul’s request to open a currency outruill line with the US. The proposal aims to reduce the possible impact on the foreign exchange market due to a major investment package in the US of South Korea. However, Kong You-Jung, spokesman for the president, said the foreign exchange exchange dialogues referred to Ku was not concentrated on tariff issues. “The United States has decided whether some other countries should put their currency on the list of countries that manipulate countries or not. In this regard, it is believed that it did not consider South Korea as a country to manipulate the currency.” In June, the US posted South Korea on the list of countries to be monitored by foreign exchange policy. Although South Korea does not manipulate as a currency, it has been placed in the monitoring list since November 2024. As for the continued tariff dialogue with the US, Kang said the government promotes the talks and gives precedence to promote national interests. -Ians Sch Share This Story Tags
