India is expanding the hand to evacuate the Nepalese and Sri Lankan citizens from Iran amid Israeli missile attacks | Today news
The Indian government has launched Operation Sindhu to vacate Indian citizens from Iran, given the deteriorating situation as a result of the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel. India will also vacate Nepalese and Sri Lankan citizens after receiving requests from both countries. “At the request of the governments of Nepal and Sri Lanka, the evacuation efforts of the Indian embassy in Iran will also cover the citizens of Nepal and Sri Lanka,” the Indian embassy in Iran posted on X. On Saturday, the Foreign Affairs (Mea) official spokesman Randhir Jaiswal returned so far, 517 Indians to India of Iran under Operation Sindh. In 2023, the Indian government launched Operation Ajay to vacate Indian citizens from Israel during the Israeli-Hamas conflict. In the same year, it launched Operation Kaveri to save its citizens amid violent military clashes in Sudan. A year earlier, in 2022, Operation Ganga was carried out to save Indian citizens after the war between Russia and Ukraine broke out. In 2021, after the takeover of Taliban of Afghanistan, India Operation Devi Shakti began to vacate its citizens from the country. During the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, India launched Operation Samudra Setu to bring back citizens stranded abroad. In 2015, amid civil conflict in Yemen, the government launched Operation Raahat to vacate Indian citizens. In 2011, it was further back, in 2011, Operation Safe Homecoming was carried out to save Indians who were trapped in Libya in Libya during the Arab Spring.
