Jammu and Kashmir: Review of flood preparations in Kishtwar, Deputy Commissioner who instructed to set up control room
Kishtwar, June 26 (IANS). Kishtwar -Adjunk Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Sharma (JKAS) presented an important meeting to review flood preparations and disaster management strategy in the district. In this meeting, special emphasis was on strengthening the district’s preparations to deal with natural disasters such as flooding. The Deputy Commissioner has instructed all the relevant departments to take concrete steps to ensure quick and coordinated actions. At the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner ordered the Department of Public Works (R&B), PDD, PMGSY, mechanical and other execution agencies, ordered to establish a dedicated control room with immediate effect. He said this control room would be the center of quick response and coordination during the disaster. In addition, he emphasized that he is widely promoting emergency contact numbers. He ordered these numbers to be shared on all available platforms, including social media, so that the public could get information and assistance on time. The Deputy Commissioner has instructed all the relevant departments to keep their manpower and machinery fully prepared to deal with any casual situation. He said rapid action at disasters such as flooding is important to protect life and property. For this, departments were asked to keep their resource list ready for deployment in emergencies. The meeting also discussed uninterrupted coordination between all departments and district disaster management team to ensure integrated and effective response. The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that all departments will have to work united so that no delay or confusion is created during the disaster. He also instructed the district disaster management authority to review his plans from time to time and remove the shortcomings. The meeting was attended by the former Water Power Department of Water Power Department, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) of PMGSy, Aee of the Mechanical Division, Representatives of Power Project, SDRF team and Tehsildar. All of them attended the meeting via online medium from their respective headquarters. During this time, different departments shared detailed information about their preparations and the status of resources. At the end of the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner called on all departments to take their responsibilities seriously and ensure complete preparations to deal with floods in the district.
