A single car aircraft crashed into a central Illinois field on Saturday morning and killed all four people on board. According to Coles County Coroner Ed Schniers, the victims included two men and two women. Further details are withheld until their families are notified. The aircraft, a Cessna C180g, went down shortly after 10 hours near Trilla, an unin -established community. The National Transport Safety Board (NTSB) said by email that the initial findings indicate that the aircraft hit power lines before the accident. “Terrible news from Coles County,” Gov JB Pritzker said on social media, adding that his administration “monitors the situation as we keep what is affected by the aircraft accident in our minds.” The Illinois accident is the latest in a series of general aviation accidents in the US in 2022 alone, the NTSB reported more than 1.300 incidents, with nearly 350 causing deaths. A significant number is attributed to pilot error, wrong assessment of weather conditions, or clashes with barriers such as trees and power lines.
