Center recalls CM Relha Gupta's Z-Category CRPF Security, Delhi police to provide protection

The center recalled the Z-Category CRPF security granted to Delhi Chief Minister Velha Gupta, a few days after it was approved in response to an attack on her, official sources told Pti on Monday. “Her safety was re -entrusted to the police in Delhi,” they said. Gupta, 51, was attacked by a man on the morning of August 20 during a ‘Jan Sunwai’ program at her camp office in the Civil Lines area, with her office with the assault part of a ‘well-planned conspiracy to kill her’. A day later, the VIP security wing of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was asked by the Union Ministry of the Union to expand his coverage to her as part of the center’s category protection protocol. The CRPF coverage has been withdrawn, and Delhi police are now providing security to the Delhi CM, sources told Pti. The orders to expand the CRPF coverage had to be formally issued by the center, but there was a plan change, and eventually the ortages for withdrawal were issued, they said. Delhi police have so far arrested two people as part of the investigation into the attack on the CM. These include Prime accused Sakriya Rajeshbhai Khimji, 41, a car-rick driver and resident of Rajkot in Gujarat. Khimji, an autorickshaw driver, has five cases of assault and possession of drinks by 2017 and 2024 at Rajkot’s Bhaktinagar police station and various preventative actions were also taken against him, they said. Khimji was also in illegal beverage smuggling. Delhi police are questioning more than ten people, including Khimji’s friends and family members in Rajkot. Khimji was sent by a court to a five-day police supervision. He told police that he went to the chief minister’s “Jan Sunwai” program to discuss the issue of stray dogs. According to Rajkot police, Khimji left Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh to Delhi on August 19 to take part in a protest march against the Monkey Court on stray dogs. (With input of agencies)
