The former NWA .Rapper has updated fans on a couple of long-rumored Friday topics.
On April 26, 1995, Friday Hit theaters and became one of the most classic black buddy comedy movies of the ’90s. The plot follows craig, who was recently fired from his job, and his friend Smokey (Chris Tucker), whose ideal life involves taking the easy way out and following the wrong crowd. The two hangs out on a Friday, mostly sitting on Craig’s porch chatting until Big Worm (Faizon Love), a drug dealer, warns smokey that he needs to give up the money he owes, or he’s hurting him and craig. If the two try to come up with different ways to get the cash, they have to deal with a neighborhood bully, deebo (tiny “zeus” lester).
With a $ 3.5 million budget, it grossed over $ 27 million at the box office and has obtained a large following ever since. From airing on cable networks to free streaming sites like tubi, the movie is often referenced in black culture. It’s mentioned in songs like Kendrick Lamar’s “not like us,” and Washington Commanders Wide Receiver Deebo Samuel is Nicknamed After Lester’s Character.
‘Last Friday’ will be without some fan-favorite characters
Many character and stars from the first installment of the series didnn’t return for the second and third movies. There have been many rheumors as to why, but for the most part, the franchise went in a different direction, highlighting that craig’s parents, Willie Jones (John Witherspoon) and Betty Jones (Anna Maria Horsford), sent him away to live with his uncle and cousin, day day (Mike Epps) In Rancho Cucamonga to Keep Him away from Trouble.
However, fans always wanted the fourth movie to be a full circle moment and include the first film’s Stars: Ice Cube, Chris Tucker (Who Wants DC Young Fly To Play His Son), John Witherspoon, Anna Maria Horsford, Tiny “Zeus” Lester, Nia Lack (Debb Crush), Regina King (Dana, Craig’s Sister) and Anthony Johnson (Ezal). Unfortunately, Witherspoon, Lester, and Johnson have passed, so they won’t in the film. There’s hope that the others could make a return, which would be an iconic way to say farewell to the beloved character.
