Paradip (Odisha), September 19 (IANS). The strength of the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has increased an increase today. The first acute patrol vessel (FPV) of the ‘unmateable’ category, ICGS ‘Adamya’, was introduced in the Paradip port in Odisha. The ship is designed and designed fully indigenous technology by Goa Shipyard Limited. Being more than 60 percent of the material Indian is a strong example of the ‘self -sufficient Indian’ campaign, which will make the country’s marine security a new power. During the launch ceremony, Joint Secretary (Air Force and Policy) of the Ministry of Defense, Satyajit Mohanty, formally made the ship available. On this occasion, the chief of staff and inspector general of the Eastern Coast Yoginder Dhaka, senior officials of the central state government and other dignitaries, were present. This 51 meter long ship will be stationed in the paradip. Its operation and administrative control is held by Commander and ICG district’s headquarters-7 (ODISHA) of the ICG region (North East). The meaning of the name ‘impassable’ is ‘invincible’ or ‘unequivocal’, which reflects the unwavering commitment of ICG to protect marine interests. The ship with a team of five officers and 34 staff members will play maritime monitoring, safety of India’s marine interests and other ICG obligations such as discovery and pollution control. This vessel with about 320 tonnes of displacement runs from two 3000 kW diesel engines. It can reach a maximum velocity of 28 nautical miles and will cover a reach of 1500 nautical miles with affordable velocity. The special thing is that it has indigenous Controlle Pitch Propeller (CPP) and gearbox, which will ensure better mobility, flexibility and performance in the sea. Weapons include 30 mm CRN 91 canon and two 12.7 mm of remote machine guns, supporting modern fire control systems. The ship has integrated bridge systems, platform management systems, automatic power management and other advanced facilities, which will increase industry efficiency. -Ians shk/dsc share this story tags
