Ravichandran Ashwin joins Sydney Thunder in Historic BBL Deal; Say 'Always better if your leader shares your mindset'

Ravichandran Ashwin emphasized the spiritual clarity with Captain David Warner, as the 39-year-old on Thursday became the first high-profile Indian cricketer to join the Australia Big Bash League. Although the Indian Women Cricketers are allowed to play in foreign T20 franchise leagues, the BCCI does not allow the male players out of the country while they are an active cricketer with the BCCI. Ashwin’s BBL strike came after the Indian spinner retired from the International Cricket and Indian Premier League (IPL) and thus cut off all ties with the BCCI. Sydney Thunder, who missed a BBL title last season after losing the final against Hobart Hurricanes, has called Ashwin their ‘biggest overseas signing since the start of the league’ in a statement. “Thunder was crystal clear about how they would use me and be brave enough to support it,” Ashwin said after capturing the agreement. “My conversations with the leadership were excellent, and we are fully in line with my role. I like how Dave Warner plays the game, and it’s always better if your leader shares your mindset. I can’t wait to perform for the Thunder Nation.”
