Officials said it is not clear whether the accident occurred only for weather or other reasons. According to PTI, a team of rescue officers were sent to the accident site. The death of 164 people due to the devastation of the monsoon in Pakistan caused landslides and sudden flooding due to heavy rain in northern Pakistan. According to AFP, at least 164 people have died in the region in the past 24 hours. According to the National Disaster Management Authority, the largest number of 150 deaths was recorded in the Hill Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province. The Pakistan Meteorological Department also issued a warning for heavy rains in the northwest and urged people to avoid “unnecessarily going to unsafe areas”. A spokesperson for the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) said here that at least 198 people, including 14 women and 12 children, died and that many have been missing over the past 24 hours. According to the PDMA, the largest number of 92 people in the Serer district died. Other affected districts include Mansha, Bajaur, Batagram, Lower Dir and Shangla. However, the spokesman for the PDMA also said that the number of dead or injured is expected to increase as a large number of people are still missing in the areas concerned.
