Tension of travel during festivals ends, more than 12 thousand special trains started

Mumbai, October 21 (IANS). Keeping in mind the convenience of passengers regarding the festive season, Central Railway has made unprecedented preparations this year. Chief Public Relations (CPRO) Swapnil Neela informed that Central Railways is also running a record number of special trains this time keeping in mind the increasing number of passengers. Swapnil Neela said that this year Indian Railways has decided to operate more than 12,000 special trains across the country, in which Central Railways is making an important contribution. So far, 705 special trains have been run successfully, transporting more than 10 lakh passengers safely to their destinations. In the coming days, the aim is to provide safe travel to around 20 lakh passengers through the remaining special trains. Railways have taken various steps to ensure the comfort and safety of passengers. A special holding area of ​​1,200 square meters has been created at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and 10,000 square meters at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, where proper arrangements have been made for seating and rest of the passengers. Apart from this, similar arrangements have also been made at major stations like Pune, Nashik and Nagpur. Janta Aahar Kendras, drinking water facilities, clean toilets and watertight sheds have been provided at these places, so that the passengers do not face any inconvenience during rain or crowd. For the convenience of passengers, an on-the-go ticketing system has also been started by mobile UPS, through which tickets can be purchased without standing in long queues. Along with this, additional ticket counters were also opened. While talking about the recent train accident in Nashik, Swapnil Neela said that three persons were hit by the Karmabhoomi Express while crossing the railway track. The train driver immediately informed the Ghoti station manager, after which the railway staff reached the spot and the injured were admitted to the hospital. He said two of the injured were residents of Malegaon, who had returned to Nashik after visiting Shirdi Sai Baba that day. Preliminary investigation found that he had consumed alcohol. The CPRO appealed to the people not to spread rumors or misinformation about such incidents as it creates unnecessary fear and confusion among passengers.
