The International Forum for Contemporary Arab Arts will start next Tuesday as part of the activities Downtown Contemporary Arts Festival (D-CAF) In its thirteenth session, with the participation of 23 artistic performances from 32 countries around the world, including the United Kingdom, France, Palestine, Bahrain, Lebanon, Tunisia, and Germany, in addition to other countries, to provide diverse artistic experiences that combine theatre, dance, live performance, and visual arts.
Forum activities
The forum’s activities will open with the documentary dance performance “Story” by artist Laila Soliman (Egypt) at Rawabet Arts Square, followed by the performance of “Echo” by artist Nasra Belazza (Algeria/France) on the same day at the Falaki Theater. On the second day, the theatrical work “Lawrence” by the artist Muhannad Karim Kazar (UAE) will be presented at The Factory, along with the theatrical performance “Beirut Stop Calling” by the Zoukak Band (Lebanon) at the Al Nahda Theater – Jesuit Cultural Center, while the musical documentary “Drone: Testimonies and Music” by the artist Andrea Assaf (Syria/United States of America) will be presented at the Falaki Theater.The third day will witness the performance of “Gaza, O Joy” by the artist Hind Gouda (France/Morocco/Palestine) at the Falaki Theater, and “Noor” by the artist Shaima Shukri (Egypt/Palestine) will be re-presented on October 24 in the same place, in addition to the performance of “Kilometers of Resistance” in the Hangar, the theatrical performance “Echo” by the artist Osama Helmy (Zoez – Egypt) at the French Institute, and the contemporary dance show “Mutual Interest Agreement.” By the movement duo Salma Salem and Sodhi Liao (Egypt/Singapore) at Rawabet Arts Square.
Show “Sadness Overwhelms Me”
At the same time, “Sadness Overwhelms Me” by artist Michael McEvoy (Egypt/Eastern Ireland) will also be shown at Rawabet Square, while “Symphonic Body” by artist Charlie Khalil Prince (Lebanon) will be presented at the Falaki Theater.The performance “The Long Shadow of Alois Brunner” will be presented by the Maqluba group (France/Germany/Syria) on October 25 at the Jesuit Cultural Center, while the dance performance “Empty Arms” by artists Ramz Siam and Nawar Salem (France/Palestine) will be presented on October 26 in Rawabet Square, in addition to the performance “Wakefulness” by the artist Moamen Nabil (Egypt) at the same time and in the same place, and the performance “An Inch and a Fist” by the artist Islam Al-Arabi. (Czech Republic/Egypt/Germany) on October 25 at Rawabet Arts Square.The artistic project “The Germ of War” by artist Yasmine Fadda (Palestine/United Kingdom) will also be displayed during the period from October 21 to 26 in the Shorbaji Building (Abdul Khaleq Tharwat Entrance). The performance “Solh” by artist Nancy Mounir will be presented from October 23 to 25 at Takhshina Studio – Goethe-Institut El Bustan, while the project “Interference Tunisia” (Tunisia) will be shown from October 23 to 26 at Radio Cinema. The forum will conclude with the performance of “Aishousha” by artist Khalil Al-Hentati (Tunisia) on October 26 at the Hangar.

A series of dialogue sessions
The program, which extends over four days (from October 23 to 26), includes a series of dialogue sessions, professional presentations, introductory presentations, brainstorming sessions and presentations of new artistic projects, covering topics such as: models of successful festivals, the role of festivals in shaping the identity of place, transformations of financing, and patterns of risk and resilience in the regional and global context, with the participation of representatives of institutions. Arts and festivals from more than ten countries.The program also witnesses presentations of prominent professional initiatives such as the Wasl Platform for Performing Arts, the Links from Ettijahat Program, and the Cairo Technical Arts Programme, in addition to cooperation projects between Al-Mashreq Productions and artistic institutions from Rwanda and Spain.The program concludes on Sunday, October 26, with a panel discussion entitled “Is there still room for art in public spaces?”, followed by presentations of the participants’ projects within a training program supported by the MBC Academy, which aims to support and train young talents from Saudi Arabia in the fields of managing and organizing festivals.
It takes place D-CAF Festival Over the course of 26 days, from October 1 to 26, this year includes 34 diverse shows that combine performing arts, modern media, music, and special performances, with the participation of more than 130 artists, technicians, and trainers from 18 countries.
