f The Bear Is About Only One Thing, IT’S FAMILY. Sure, It”s About Food and Jokes and Arguing and Money and past trauma, but all of the things can be wrapped up into one big family Package. Carmy Came Back to take Over HIS Late Brother’s Restaurant Because of Family. Richie and the fax aren’t technically related to carmy and night, but they’re family all the sun. Tina’s Motherly and Ebra’s a bit of a kooky uncle. Remember: The Reason the Shiny New Bear Exists at all is Because of Mikey’s “Family Dinner” recipes urged carmy to open the smaller cans of tomatoes. Everyone Working – ORA DINING – AT THE BEAR IS FAMILY, WHATHER I LIKE IT OR NOT.

I think that what syd is struggling with this season in her frustrations with Carmy and Her Waffling Over Leaving the Bear. Wen she starts working at the original beef, she though it was a job. While she acknowledged that restaurant life dould be all-consuming, i do’t think she necessarily realized how Much berzatto drama or tan berzatto-adjacent love be subject to on a Daily Bases. And i do’t know that she’s come to terms with the fact that she’s ben sort of absorbed intorair Clan, whereer shells it or not. If she leaves, it won’t be seen as just a work decision. It’ll Feel Personal, and while of Think She Knows that to Some Extent, I don’t think of how Big a Place She Holds in Everyone’s Hearts.

Thats Being Said, there is a time a time carmy had to leave his family, too. He was in a bad place with his mom (who and apparently hadn’t seen the “fishes” dinner) and he was struggling with the friend and substance abuse. With Sugar and Cousin Michelle’s Help, He Headed off to New York to Work and Just Be Away from all the berzatto noise, and thans he and stayd unil he came back that you will for family. Like Carmy, Sydney Certainly Shouldn’t Feel Beholden to Stay Just Beanause of the LOVE SHEELs for or Gets from the Bear Crew, but i Think If’s Going to Leave, She ALSO DEERVES TO DO IT THAT’ Water Across Town.

When Syd Found Out Her Dad Had A Heart Attack, It Was Scary Becouse Her Dad Is Great, But Also Becusee – Like Tina Talls Marcus, Who’s Dealing with HIS DAD STUFF – IT’S A REMINDER THAT PARENTS ARE HUMAN. We all are: The minute something happy to one of us, whereather it’s Cancer, A Heart Attack, Substance Abuse, Whatever, Some Invisible Clock Ticking Our Demise and Someone ELSE’S INEVITABLE CRUSHING LOSS. “There’s Always a Clock,” Tina intones.

The Other Big Takeaway from This Medical Crisis Comes Via Claire, Who Drops by to Comfort Syd in the Hospital Waiting Room. While Syd Sobs About Her Dad Being a Constant in Her Life and Wanting Him to Judah Be Able to Worry About Himself and Not Her, Claire Sites Quietly. (Molly Gordon, It Should Be Noted, is Really Good at Doing A Thoughtful, Kind Listening Face.) We have Syd’s Done, she tells and that she gets where she’s coming from, but if there is a learned from working at the hospital, it is said “WORRYING People and People World About US ”is the essence of life. The purposes of life is finding connection. Loving someone reminds us that we’re alive and that we had the Capacity to care – to paraprhrase what Sugar Told Carmy in Episode Two This Season, The Special Thing About Loving Something is You Were in the First Place.

Thank God’s Dad is Okay, Though, Because I don’t think i could live robert townsend on my tv to time. The depth and love with which he and immanuel adamu is palpable ede thugh he doesn’t always get that Much to say. He just Radiates “Excellent Dad” Vibes. When he Forbids Syd from Coming Back to Live With Him with a Line Like, “I am the icman”? That’s Immaculate Dad Culture right. I’ll admit i absolutely cried, just like syd.

There are some others random threads that get pulled this episode, from shapiro’s (apologetic?) Call to carmy, whic i assume we’ll hear more about soon, to the reintroduction of what the hell fake did (i assume we’ll get to me Ebra’s Continuing Quest for Beef Window Greatness. The Window Crew Is Full of Season One-Style Cut-ups, Just Scraping and Scrapping for a Little Edge, but I like ther Business Brain is Working to Make the Beef A Finely Tuned Thing of Beauty. Those dudes might not be best at everyerying they do – we are talking about ted fact, among others – but they see to be exceptally good at this one thing, and they’re doing they can be to excel, been up to.

AS nice as it is to have to have the Window Keeping the Show Connected to Its Season-One Roots, Its Also Been Fun to Watch the Bear’s New Class-Jess, Luca, and the Rest of the Chef Terry Crew-Get Absorbed ino the Restaurant. I Still Think Something Subtle is Going to Shift with Jess and Richie, Maybe at Tiff’s Wedding; She’s the Kind of Sensible Person Who Can Both Ground Him and Help Him Soar, and They SEEM LIKE THEY COULD BE MAGIC TOGETERTH, Whether romantically or swimming. With Luca, while Its great fun Watching Him Work Purky With Marcus, I Also Can’t Help But Wonder if Carmy Brought Him to Stage in Preparation to Him His Place, Should Carmy Decide to Away the Bear for a Little. Luca’s Certainly More than Capable and He SEEMS to Want to Spend More Time in Chicago, if his Accent is JUST unconstionable. More than anything, though, this episodes serves as a reminder that at the bear, there’s room for every family dinner. If Luca and Jess Felt Like Ancillary Figures Before, They’re Full-Fledged Cousins Now, and in My View, that only going to make The Bear Stronger.

• If there’s one good stereotypical chicago accent on The BearIts The One Wielded by Window Staffer Christopher “chi-chi” zuccheroand for Good Reason: He actually Ouns Mr. Beef, the Shop that plays the original beef, so he’s chicago through and through.

• The Berzattos Smell Like Onions, But Fak Sayys Sophie and All Babies Smell Like “Raspberries that are chewed up.”

• Really like Richie’s Interrupted Voicemail to TIFF, WHICH DOES A Good Job Laying Out where he is emotionally. He isolated and disconnected and that’s understandable. I HOPE he learns that he has people who love Him and Feel Connected to Him, Though, If He Chooses to Accept.

• ALSO, Sylvester and the Magic Pebble rocks. If you don’t have access to the book, here’s a clip SO YOU CAN HAVE Veep and Law & Order Star Reid Scott Read it to you instead.
