Jagran correspondent, Jaipur. The petitions disputing the constitutionality of the WAQF Amendment Act 2025 must be heard in the Supreme Court. Earlier, the Bhajanlal Sharma government of Rajasthan asked permission to become parties in these petitions. The government says it wants to defend the historical reforms in the Waqf Act, as there is hundreds of hectares of land in the state on which the WAQF claims. Government bid- The ban on arbitrary declared WAQF is aimed at the tendency to arbitrarily declare that the government and private land are declared arbitrary VAQF wealth. Additional Advocate General of the State Shivamangal Sharma said that the government had filed an application to protect the interests of the state and become a party for the legal and justice of religious rituals. The government believes that the amendment of the WAQF Act is transparent and constitutional reform. Not violating the rights of religious freedom and equality: The Joint Parliamentary Committee for the Government unanimously supported the view of more than 284 stakeholders. The government argued that the law did not violate the freedom of religion in terms of sections 25 and 26, nor does the right to violate equality under sections 14 and 15 as claimed in petitions.
