The head coach of India addressed the void created by the test exit of Rohit Sharma, Ravichandran Ashwin and Virat Kohli in England and requested the young group led by Shubman Gill to get out of their comfort zone for success in the five-game test series, which begins on June 20. The series against England begins a new era for Indian cricket with the Big Three missing for the first time in Test cricket. While Ashwin mentions time on his international career in the middle of the Border Gavascar trophy 2024-25, Kohli and Rohit prayed their red-ball career within a team a four-day last month. Gambhir, who addressed the new appearance group, talked about the sacrifices and obligations to do something special in England. “Guys, all I want to say is that there are two ways to look at this tour. One is that we are without three of our most experienced players, or that we have a phenomenal opportunity to do something special for the country, ‘Gambhir said in a video released by the BCCI. “When I look into this group, I think the hunger, the passion and dedication to doing something special … The sacrifices, I think when we play out of our comfort zone, as we start fighting, not every day, but every session, every hour, every ball, I think we can have an unforgettable tour,” the Indian head coach added. Gambhir’s special welcome for Karun Nair Earlier, Gambhir welcomed the newcomers to the team in a team of Huddle, with a special mention for Karun Nair, who made a return to the Indian team after eight long years. “Comebacks are never easy. Someone who made a comeback after seven (eight) years had a phenomenal last year,” Gambhir said. ‘Last year, regardless of the runs you got, and most importantly, that never-death attitude, a never-ending attitude, this is something that brought you back to the team. It is something that is inspiring for this whole world. Welcome, Karun, ‘he added. Nair was rewarded with a place in the Indian test group, after the extraordinary domestic season of the Karnataka batter. The right hand scored 863 runs in the Ranji Trophy 2024-25, with an average of 53.93 with four centuries and two fifties in 16 overs. Nair also scored 135 in the final, leading his side to the title.
